Spring is finally here – and that means one thing. Wedding Season. I had the honor of hosting a Bridal Shower for a dear friend, Kari, yesterday afternoon.

I love planning parties and was very excited when Kari agreed to let me host a shower for since I will be unable to travel to her Montana wedding.

I decided on a Sunday Brunch with a couple bridal shower games, but really wanted the afternoon to be more about fellowship as I know how busy and stressful planning a wedding can be.

In addition to a toilet paper wedding dress, we helped fill up popsicle sticks with date ideas that Kari received at another bridal shower.

Brunch Menu:

Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast with Blueberry Syrup

Creamy Fruit Salad

Brown Sugar Muffins

Citrus Punch

It was a fun afternoon with food, fellowship, and lots of laughs.

Are you ready for some Football?  We always have a Super Bowl party with fiends and family. My favorite part is the food, fellowship and commercials.  I always try to make sure I know the teams playing before people arrive just not to embarrass myself when they start talking about the game.

Our menu is typically “tailgating”.  Below are a few things I am planning for the menu this year and  I always love to see what the guests bring.  Today will be the day I go to the grocery store for the super bowl party supplies.  Of course Rick will be accompanying me.   He is in the kitchen right along side me when we prepare for guest.   And praise God he is willing to help clean the house too.  One nice thing about being empty nesters is that there is less house cleaning.

Enjoy the game or should I say the commercials!

Today is one of those days that you either love or hate…Valentine’s Day. Personally, I enjoy the holiday. I’m not just saying that because I have the most amazing fiance ever (because I do) … I have ALWAYS enjoyed this special day. Growing up, we gave out homemade valentine’s day cards. Mom wouldn’t let us go out and buy the one’s with cartoon characters on them. Instead we spent time making them together. It’s also a tradition for Dad to buy us a chocolate rose. My sisters and I have a hard time eating this foil wrapped pretty…but we always manage somehow!

Last night Jake and I enjoyed a night in the Haymarket downtown, nothing too fancy. Just pizza and ice cream. We didn’t exchange gifts or handmade cards, just spent some quality time together. Being with the ones I love makes my heart happy. So for those of you who have yet to enjoy your Valentine, I encourage you to take a step back, relax, and enjoy the simplicity of just being together.

xoxo
